Make a Feast for Your Furry Buddy with Home-Made Gourmet Dog Food

Premium brands of dog food offer real specialties in fancy packages. Unlike cheap cans, gourmet pet food is vet-approved because it does not contain additives and fillers. The ingredients used are top quality, such as extra virgin olive oil, whole grains, free-range meat, and so on.

If you are one of the owners who spoiled your four-legged friend, these specialties will be on their menu every day. Your dog will be overjoyed, and you will be satisfied because you do not have to go shopping. Most pet shops have the option of dog food delivery right to your door.

If you do a little research and study the composition of canned food, you will notice that these are the ingredients you probably have in your home. It only takes a little imagination and kitchen skills to prepare a yummy dish for your four-legged buddy. Unlike canned food, this will be nutritious, healthy, and absolutely safe.

Spinach and Salmon Scrambled Eggs

There are many dilemmas about whether an egg should be present in a dog’s diet. It is one of the healthiest foods, and it would be a shame to deprive your furry buddy of the handful of nutrients an egg has. From time to time, you can treat your pup with a gourmet meal rich in proteins, like scrambled eggs with salmon.

Chop skinless salmon and baby spinach, and fry in olive oil. Add two eggs and stir everything for 2 to 3 minutes. Let it cool and serve to your pet. Besides proteins, this meal is rich in iron and good fats from salmon, eggs, and olive oil.

Chick-Veggie Risotto

Rice is a healthy food that contains plenty of fiber needed for your dog to have proper digestion. Also, white rice contains starch as the healthiest carbohydrate option for pups. Use boneless chicken tights and any mix of veggies (excluding onions, garlic, and chili peppers) for this risotto.

On a teaspoon of olive oil, in a deep frying pan, fry 3 pounds of chopped or finely ground chicken tights for 2 minutes. Then, add 2 cups of vegetable mix and 2 cups of rice. Stir until soft, pour in 3 glasses of water, and bring to boil.

Reduce the heat, and gradually add three more glasses of water, little by little. Stir all the time, and cook until all the liquid has evaporated and the rice gets a silky texture. The amount is enough for 4 or 5 pup meals. The dish can be stored in the fridge and served to the dog without reheating, at room temperature.

Gourmet Beef Burger

Burgers are food that both pups and their owners love. But giving only fried meat to your dog is not a good idea, as it lacks many nutrients. So get free-range beef, and prepare a delicious meal for your pet, which even you can eat.

Add 3 cups of minced beef (do not separate the fat) to the pan and fry it on three tablespoons of canola oil. Pour in two cups of water and let it boil. Before the liquid evaporates, add half a cup of the smashed kidney bean and half a cup of finely diced potatoes. Skip the beans if your pup has flatulence issues. Here, find out what causes gases in dogs.

In all this, mix one cup of oat flakes. Pour in more water if needed, and cook until the dish gets a buttery texture. When it cools, take a half of the cup of the mixture and make patties. Place them on wax paper and leave in a cool place to set.

The pet food market is full of various brands and products. Today, you can find almost everything you can imagine in the form of dog food. Yet, if you ever look at the label on cans or baggies you buy, you will notice these are not the healthiest and most nutritious meals for your pup. You don’t have to be a chef de cuisine to make your pet a homemade meal. Make it as you cook for yourself, adhering to some rules related to your pet’s nutrition.
